Telstra and Optus planned shutdowns of the 3G network service are in June and September 2024 respectively, so the time to consider your options as an owners corporation / community association should be undertaken now.
Since the end of 2023, the 3G Mobile Network in Australia has started to shut down. Over the course of the next few months the 3G Network will shut down progressively until September 2024, depending on the Network provider. This means that all devices that rely on the 3G Network for communication will need to be upgraded to stay connected.
Some phone lines at your building may already have a compliant SIM device installed and they may automatically upgraded and as such there will be no concerns when the 3G network service is closed down.
At The 1888 Co. we have already started the process of reaching out to the service providers with respect to the the phone lines for our clients and ensuring that either there is an automatic upgrade or if there is an upgrade required by the building by the service provider prior to the 3G network being switch off.
